RESERVE TEAM - C.F.R. II

Founded in 2007, the reserve team first played in Liga IV (county football). Having easily earned promotion, the youngsters are now attempting to sneak into Liga II. Many of the players are under twenty years of age, their youthful nature stimulating them to play well and perhaps even make the jump to professional football.

Gloria Bistrita II - CFR Cluj II 3-1 - June 5, 2009

The reserves have capped off their season with a loss. Facing a team composed mainly of first league footballers, CFR II put out a very young side with most of the players under twenty. Oddly enough, Bus scored first for the visitors after a shot from the right side. Bistrita then went on the attack and scored three unanswered by the 53rd minute. The reserves attempted to turn the tables, but their attacks hit a determined Gloria goalkeeper.

Surprisingly, the reserves lost at home to CSM Sebes 0-3. Although the match was fairly even in terms of opportunities, Sebes managed to score three unanswered after several quick counter-attacks coupled with defensive errors. Due to this very poor result, the reserves' chances to promote have been diminished to almost nil.

The New CFR: A Bright Future Ahead - May 27, 2009

CFR's future seems very bright. Many of the youngsters in the club's youth system are on the verge of professional breakthroughs. With only two matches left in the season, CFR's reserve team is currently very close to promotion to Liga II. The older juniors all have qualified for the regional playoffs. CFR forward, Sergiu Bus, is the captain of the Romanian U-17 National Team. Vlad Bujor is training with the first team, while Traore has already debuted in Liga I. These are the results of a project which was first begun seven years ago, in 2002.

Reserves Trounce Promotion Rival - May 23, 2009

The reserve team defeated Silvania Simleu yesterday after being down 2-0 by the 32nd minute. Later in the first half, Traore reduced the difference and shortly after the break he managed to tie the game up. Though there were chances at both nets, CFR scored yet again when Traore's shot was deflected in by Vlad Bujor. Finally, Felecan made the score 4-2 for the reserves after a solitary incursion. This critical victory bounces CFR II up to second spot with 58 points.
