The New CFR: A Bright Future Ahead - May 27, 2009

CFR's future seems very bright. Many of the youngsters in the club's youth system are on the verge of professional breakthroughs. With only two matches left in the season, CFR's reserve team is currently very close to promotion to Liga II. The older juniors all have qualified for the regional playoffs. CFR forward, Sergiu Bus, is the captain of the Romanian U-17 National Team. Vlad Bujor is training with the first team, while Traore has already debuted in Liga I. These are the results of a project which was first begun seven years ago, in 2002.

 

Junior Teams Earn Tournament Trophies - May 25, 2009

CFR's younger junior teams are also performing well. The "E1" youth (born 1998) recently won the Alba Iulia Municipal Cup, winning all four games against U Cluj, Interstar Sibiu, Rival Alba Iulia, and Unirea Alba Iulia. The "F" youngsters also earned a trophy of their own (Cupa Viitorul in Zalau) after defeating LPS Satu Mare, Xela Baia Mare, Viitorul Zalau, and U Cluj. Finally, the 2000 group only managed to snatch second spot at Cupa Viitorul after victories over Xela Baia Mare and Viitorul Zalau, but also a loss to U Cluj.

 

Junior Teams Competing Superbly - May 23, 2009

CFR's primary junior teams (A, B, C and D, born between 1990-1995) all earned qualification to the regional playoffs after excellent showings in the championship. The B, C and D teams all finished in first spot in the league, while the A team finished in second. The playoffs will take place in June and the winners will move on to the national tournament.
