Veljovic, Emmanuel Kone and Vieira Loaned Off - July 9, 2009
Three of CFR's younger players have been sent off on loan. Veljovic's destination is newly promoted Liga 1 side, Unirea Alba Iulia. Emmanuel Kone and Vieira will both be heading off to International Curtea de Arges, another side making its Liga 1 debut.
Young Goal-Scorer Signs with Cluj - July 7, 2009
Paul
Batin of FC Baia Mare signed with Cluj yesterday. The 22-year-old was certainly
a surprise signing, considering he has vitually no experience at the Liga 1
level. Still, Batin managed to score 25 goals in 30 matches for Baia Mare in the
last Liga III season, so he is a center-forward with a lot of
potential.
Team Reunites - July 7, 2009
The
players and coaching staff have reunited at Cluj after a short 4-week vacation.
The new members of the squad, Emil Dica, Peskovic, and Trica were all present
during the summer's first practise. In addition, Didi and Cadu, who have been
injured for the longest of times, have both made their return to the pitch.
Reserve players Andrei Borostean, Sergiu Bus, Vasile Curileac and Vlad Bujor
also trained with the big boys.
Galiassi Leaves for Turkey - July 4, 2009
After
spending two and a half years at Cluj, Andre de Sousa Galiassi will be leaving
for newly promoted Turkish side, Kasimpasa. The 28-year-old will be loaned out
for 6 months, after which time the Turks will decide whether a definite transfer
is in their best interests. Galiassi was a key element in the Cluj back-four
since early 2007, and his departure will certainly weigh heavily in Antonio
Conceicao's tactical plans. CFR now needs another central defender to compensate
for this last minute transfer.
In other news, Rade Veljovic is wanted at Pandurii Targu Jiu, while "Manu"'s transfer from Maritimo Funchal has stalled.
"Manu" Negotiations Reaching Finale - July 1, 2009
Negotiations
for Maritimo Funchal player, "Manu", are in a very advanced state. The
right-winger seems likely to be loaned out to Cluj for one year, after which CFR
has the option to buy his contract. Manu played in 25 matches for Maritimo in
the past season, scoring only once. Before that, he spent three years at Benfica
earning 12 Portuguese Superliga caps, but also spent time on loan at several
other clubs. In addition, Manu also has 11 European cup caps to his name.
The 25-year-old is considered by many to be a talented, speedy, and tactically
sound footballer who can play on the right and in the center. If the transfer is
indeed completed, than CFR's midfield and forward lines will truly be complete.
However, there are still some glaring gaps left in defense that need immediate
repair.
